Circular Economy
Creating a Circular Economy within our community is one way in which RightGreen are striving to reduce furniture waste within the Public Sector, Healthcare Sector & Higher Education Sector.
By offering our sustainable furniture services to our customers, we can build a reuse community in which old furniture will always find a new home instead of landfill.
What is a Circular Economy?
A Circular Economy is a production & consumption model that focuses on the reuse of materials & items to extend their life cycle as much as possible, this can be achieved through several methods, the main ones being;
- Recycling
- Repairing
- Reusing
- Refurbishing
- Leasing
- Sharing
The goal is to scrap the current economic model that encourages throwaway culture to one that eliminates waste, reduces Carbon emissions & implements environmentally friendly processes.
According to WRAP, over 45% of global emissions could be tackled by making changes to the way we produce and consume products & food.
The current Linear Economy model has a very short and simple cycle: Produce, Sell, Use, Landfill/Incinerate. This means that once the cycle is complete, all materials used are effectively reduced to waste, a recent study from RTS shows that over 90% of raw materials aren’t currently reused.
The Circular Economy model has a much wider scope for extending the cycle.
How are we doing this?
To give our customers a true one-stop shop service, we offer a range of sustainable furniture options to easily enable access to reuse & recycle their used items. From Reupholstery to distribution, everything is handled in-house by RightGreen to provide a seamless and efficient service.

Steps You Can Take
- Buy higher quality used furniture – While this may seem like an obvious answer, the reality is that higher quality furniture comes with higher quality frames making it easier to repair at a later date, it also is likely to be more durable.
- Don’t throw items away – Throwing your old items in the skip stops any one else from reusing them, use a service such as the Marketplace to get them listed and find a new home!
- Always check if something can be repaired – Drawer not working properly? Maybe a spring has gone in the sofa? Whatever it is, the chances are it could be repaired very easily & more than likely at the fraction of the cost of replacing!
- Leasing Furniture – Just needing a temporary solution? Why not lease instead of purchasing, this enables items to be reused over and over again.
